I am a Registered Nurse, fully trained and certified as an IBCLC Lactation Consultant. I have been a pediatric nurse for over 10 years; working on an inpatient medicine floor at McMaster Children’s Hospital. I have ample experience working with infants, children and teens with complex medical concerns. I became a Board Certified Lactation Consultant in December 2023. I am passionate about sharing my knowledge to empower mothers on their breastfeeding journey. I am a mom of three; my own personal joys and struggles with breastfeeding led me to becoming an IBCLC. I want to help every breastfeeding dyad in their feeding journey.
When I am not working as an IBCLC or a nurse at Mac I love spending time with my husband and three kids, going on hikes, walking our dog, doing yoga and spending time in nature.

Fliggology
A Clinical Biomechanical Model Approach
Dr. D. Bruce Fligg graduated from the Canadian Memorial Chiropractic College (CMCC) in 1977 and joined the faculty in 1978 with a focus in Clinical Biomechanics. Dr. Fligg held the faculty position of Director of the Chiropractic Science Division and ran the Academic Deans office for two years as Assistant Dean in the absence of a Dean. Dr. Fligg was on faculty for 26 years during which time he achieved the Associate Professorship status, developed his Clinical Biomechanical Model approach to practice, authored 11 articles and wrote a chapter in two published books.
Both of Dr. Fligg’s daughters were breech births and Dr. Fligg realized from these two experiences that there was a lack of clinical biomechanical criteria for postural and pelvic alignment assessment and treatment intervention during pregnancy, labour and delivery. In conjunction with other top Chiropractors at the time, such as Dr. Adrian Grice, Dr. Don Fitz-Ritson, Dr. Zoltan Szaraz and along with Midwives and Lactation consultants, Dr. Fligg identified the various common concerns during pregnancy, labour and delivery such as breech positioning, lower back pain, and sciatica and then applied his clinical biomechanical model to the postural and pelvic alignment changes that occur during pregnancy, and then developed assessment criteria and interventive corrective techniques. These criteria and techniques developed by Dr. Fligg in the 80s were foundational and are still being used today.
Dr. Fligg also realized this same lack of criteria for babies/birth trauma, breast feeding, infant-child postural-spinal and locomotor development, and post partum challenges such as pelvic floor prolapse. Again, consulting with the same experts mentioned above, he applied his clinical biomechanical model to develop assessment criteria and treatment intervention strategies.
During the same period Dr. Fligg was developing his Clinical Biomechanical Model (1980s) Dr. Webster was developing his approach to prenatal care and to this day is referred to as Webster Technique. Students and mentees of Dr. Fligg have often referred to his work as “Fliggology”.
Since 1976 Dr. Fligg has been treating dancers in the performing arts. He started as an Intern working with dancers from the Canadian College of Dance -Ryerson and then taught there for one year in 1977-78 (substituting for a faculty who was on sabbatical). Dr. Fligg was then contracted by the Royal Academy of Dance to speak at their 1978 conference and then do a series of workshops for RAD studios across southern Ontario. During this time Dr. Fligg applied his clinical biomechanic model to developing assessment criteria and treatment intervention strategies for dancers and then taught and mentored it to students at the CMCC. Dr. Fligg eventually became the MSK (Musculoskeletal) injury practitioner for a top competitive studio in Mississauga that was located close to the clinic that he had founded and developed in Mississauga.
For 30 years Dr. Fligg was the Medical/Health Advocate for the Mississauga Fibromyalgia Support Group. During this tenure Dr. Fligg applied his clinical biomechanical model to helping people who were suffering with chronic widespread pain syndromes such as Fibromyalgia.
Over the years Dr. Fligg has developed congenital health issues, diseases that are common in his family history, such as Meniere’s (an equilibrium disorder with tinnitus and hearing loss) heart arrhythmia requiring a pacer maker, and malignant melanoma cancer. True to his clinical biomechanical knowledge and experience used his model to help himself through these diseases. Today, at almost 71, Dr. Fligg is very active, enjoying cycling, swimming, rugged canoe trips, cross country skiing, show shoeing, ice skating and more.
In 2002 Dr. Fligg graduated from Tyndale Seminary and University with a Master of Theological Studies and was awarded a scholarship for his high scholastic achievement and in recognition for his mentorship ability. In 2006 Dr. Fligg was awarded from TRIEC (Toronto Regional Immigration Employment Centre) the first runner up award for Mentor of the Year, in recognition of his mentorship and training of Mentors for TRIEC’s Foreign Trained Professionals Mentorship Program. Dr. Fligg was also recognized by U of T’s (University of Toronto) Kinesiology Department for his years of mentorship of 3rd and 4th year Kinesiology students.
Dr. Fligg has always taken a Holistic approach to practice, recognizing the health relationship between body, mind and spirit. His MTS made possible for a deeper application of this holistic approach. Dr. Fligg participated in the 905 Faith Community Multifaith Leadership Group for 10 years and so has a deep appreciation and understanding of the various faith communities.

This calling led me to pursue an Honours Bachelor of Arts degree (Health Studies) and a Bachelor of Health Sciences degree (Midwifery) from McMaster University. To broaden my education I have completed my lactation training and I am a fully certified IBCLC (International Board Certified Lactation Consultant).
Having had three beautiful sons of my own, I understand and empathize with the anxiety and fear many women associate with pregnancy, labour, delivery, and caring for a newborn.
